With Angus Smith Personal Training, you will benefit from dedicated one-to-one or group sessions, creating a unique dynamic allowing you to focus on one thing – working towards getting results. Setting out clear goals from the outset is the first point of call before building a plan to reach it. You will then be guided through an entire programme of health and fitness development, which includes your training inside and outside the gym, your diet, sleep pattern, stress levels and your general lifestyle. We’ll conduct an initial FMS (Functional Movement Systems) screening to find out where your strengths and weaknesses lie and create a regime specifically tailored for you. 

Through performing an FMS screening, we are able to identify any injuries or catch any potential new injuries before they happen.

The FMS screening consists of 7 movement tests used to assess a persons functional and fundamental movement patterns. If a person has any great struggles with any of the movements, we cover 4 clearing tests to identify pain/injury sites.

FMS screening

We use the FMS screening with every new person we coach with the results impacting the programming choice we make. Beginning with corrective exercises to improve mobility and re-train movement patterns, we progress to building strength. As the FMS saying goes “first move well, then move often”. This is the approach we use with the people we coach.

Our personal training integrates a wide range of disciplines and methods to keep both body and mind challenged in a variety of ways. This includes options such as strength, mobility and stretching sessions, cardiovascular exercise and sports performance.

Beginning with an initial FMS (functional movement systems) screening and consultation, we will put together goals based around your current lifestyle, work life, sleep and how often you can train. Spending time building the plan is incredibly important for building the full picture so that we can map out the best course of action moving forward.

It must be said, if you are wanting a quick fix using extreme dieting and an unsustainable approach, I’m not the coach for you. However, if you’re that person wanting to achieve fat loss in a sustainable manner whilst increasing your knowledge of how you did it and how to maintain it along the way, I am keen to hear from you.

My fat loss programs are not about doing hundreds of burpees or doing endless cardiovascular training but more about a healthy balance of cardio and strength training to suit each persons individual needs.

Likewise I take the approach of using sustainable dieting built around your current lifestyle and not starving yourself of those less nutrient foods you enjoy most! After all, the goal is not to set you up to fail. The goal is to give you all the knowledge and tools to achieve your fat loss goals and most importantly, maintain what you’ve achieved moving forward.
